Russ “Dutch” Boyd was born in 1980 and grew up as a child prodigy. At the age of 12, Boyd attended college and graduated with a law degree at 18. After serving as an intern, being inspired by the movie Rounder’s Boyd decided not to pursue the law profession. Instead, he turned to poker. Boyd began playing online poker day and night eventually moving to California and began playing poker during the day and working for a department store at night.
At the 2003 World Series of Poker, Boyd finished 12th. This brought a significant amount of media attention to him as well as to his group of young poker friends known as The Crew, which included two-time bracelet winner Scott Fischman. He snagged his own WSOP bracelet in the 2006 $2,500 no-limit hold’em short-handed event.
As of 2017, Boyd’s total live tournament winnings exceed $2,583,000 His 47 cashes at the WSOP account for $1,781,170 of those winnings. With Three Gold Bracelets to his resume Dutch will be a force at the 2017 WSOP.
