Zen Poker Teams with World Series of Poker to Create WSOP School of Poker

Since its launch early last year, Zen Poker Mentoring has established itself as the premiere live coaching program in the world. The brainchild of poker pro poker Brian Rast and industry veteran Arthur “Ace” MacFarland, Zen Poker was designed as a proof of concept to show the community that a live school of poker was still a viable entity.

It worked as the World Series of Poker, the most trusted brand in poker for more than 40 years, took notice and has decided to partner with Zen Poker to create a new training program that will take your game to the next level – the WSOP School of Poker.

“One thing I have learned from all my years in poker is that you must always keep learning to succeed in this game,” said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. “We are pleased to lend our brand support to this cause, because we know the players involved and truly believe they will help provide positive results for those looking to improve their game.”

In a world of poker lessons being taught via Skype, Twitch, and webinars, the WSOP School of Poker will keep things traditional by offering face-to-face LIVE training from a rotating cast of poker pros and bracelet winners.

“We feel that in-person training is the best bang for your buck, and allows everyone to retain the most information possible,” says Rast. “When students seek us out and come to a session taught by myself and other WSOP bracelet winners, it doesn’t take them long to “take their poker game to the next level”

Case in point, 68-year-old Kenneth Garen, founder and President of Universal Business Computing Company (UBCC). An amateur player, Garen first attended a Zen Poker seminar in February 2015. Straight after, he finished second in the Liz Flint Spring Classic Event #7: $275 No-Limit Hold’em for $26,000. He followed that up with 14 more cashes throughout 2015.

“Absolutely worth the money.” Garen said of the class. “After Brian’s two-day training workshop in February 2015 I had the my best year so far cashing in 23 of my 67 tournaments with 14 final tables and six top-three finishes and two wins.”

Among the pros involved with Zen Poker in the past, and who very well may be involved in future WSOP School of Poker seminars, are four-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Madsen; poker pro and reality TV star Vanessa Rousso; Senior Event champ Dan Heimiller; 1983 Main Event champion Tom McEvoy; manager of the Global Poker League’s L.A. Sunset, Maria Ho; and Poker Hall of Famer Jen Harman, among others.

“It was our dream to own a poker training school, and that was brought to life with Zen Poker Mentoring,” adds MacFarland. “However, by joining forces with the WSOP and rebranding as the WSOP School of Poker gives us the opportunity to advance poker to an even larger community and to assist players in their journey to become a WSOP champion.”

On July 6, just a few days before the 2016 World Series of Poker Ladies Event, as well as the Main Event, the WSOP School of Poker will hold a seminar to help players prepare for both those events. Melanie Weisner and WSOP Europe Main Event champ Annette Obrestad will host that seminar.

Then, on October 27 leading up to the WSOP Main Event November Nine finale, Antonio Esfandiari, the winner of the inaugural $1 million Big One for ONE DROP, will host an “Advanced No-Limit Hold’em Tournament Class” at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

The WSOP School of Poker is dedicated to improving your poker game by providing insight and understanding through personal interaction with an accomplished poker coach all the while focusing on the same goal for the entirety of our mentoring services. Be it fundamentals, mental coaching, or secrets for success, no other training program offers the acumen and access straight from the pros.
